Tomball kicked off to #8 Michael Starr who returned to the KO 35 yard line. On
the first play, KO was flagged for holding moving the ball back 9 yards to the
26. On 1st down, #10 Kenny Stover passed to #8 Starr for 9 yards.
On 2nd down, Stover passed again to Starr moving the ball out to the
45 for a 1st down. Stover pitched to #21 Le’Mon Ford who ran for 17
yards and another 1st down. The next 1st down came via a
Stover pass to #14 Charles Musselwhite. This moved the ball to the THS 18.
Ford carried the ball 17 yards to the 1, then #7 Abron “toted the rock” over the
goal for the touchdown. Stover passed to Musselwhite for the 2 pt conversion.
Score 8-0.
The KO
kickoff went out of bounds at the 35-yard line. After giving up a 1st
down, the defense made some real good plays. #22 Blaine Robertson made a tackle
behind the line of scrimmage. #2 Carl Smith saved a 1st down with a
real good tackle. Then on 3rd down, #38 Tyler Jones tackled the ball
carrier for a 6-yard loss. On 4th down Tomball punted very long and
the ball was downed at the KO 5 yard line. The Panthers gained a 1st
down on a pass to #81 Tom Call but the drive stalled and they had to punt.
Tomball received the punt at the 45 and the runner was tackled on the spot. A
quick 1st quarter ended with Tomball gaining a 1st down at
the KO 45.
On the
1st play of the 2nd quarter Tomball fumbled #45 Andrew
Reisdorf came up with the ball for the Panthers. #3 Kerry Harris ran for 5
yards on 2nd down. Ford ran for 8 yards on 3rd down
producing the 1st down. Stover then passed to #81 Call for 15 yards
and another 1st down. The Panthers were not able to get the ball
into the end zone and gave up the ball at the Cougar 5 yard line. The Cougars
moved the ball to their 32 then fumbled. #26 Keaton Studdard recovered for the
Panthers. At this point #7 Abron came into the game at quarterback. Abron and
Harris traded carries and moved the ball to the 21. With 18 seconds Stover
reentered the game at QB and threw to Call for a 1st down at the 10.
Stover then connected with Starr for the TD. The PAT was kicked by #20 Ed
Germany. The half ended with the Panthers leading 15-0.
The
Panthers kicked off to start the 2nd half. Tomball received at the
40. On 2nd down a Tomball running back broke through the front 7 and
ran all the way to the endzone. A 2pt conversion was stopped by #28 Studdard.
Score KO 15 THS 6.

Starr received the kickoff and was tackled at the 27. #30 Walt Williams ran for
11 yards. After an offsides penalty against Tomball, #21 Ford ran for 17 yards
to the Cougar 46. Then during a broken play, #10 Stover showed that he is
multi-talented and ran the ball for 22 yards and another 1st down.
The drive ended at the KHS 25 and the Panthers gave up the ball after 4th
down.
Tomball moved the ball out to the 40 and fumbled. #3 Harris picked up the ball
for the Panthers. Stover connected with Call for 6 yards, then to Aborn for 7
and the 1st down. The next 3 passes went to Starr moving the ball to
the 11. Unable to get the ball into the endzone, #20 Germany entered to kick a
27-yard field goal. The kick was true and increased the lead to 18-6.
Germany kicked the next kickoff all the way into the endzone for a touchback.
Tomball gained only 4 yards and had to punt. The punter “shanked” the kick and
it only went 20 yards. From the 40, the Panthers went into a power run
formation and ran the ball right down the Cougars throats. #20 Germany took the
ball the final 20 yards for the TD. The PAT was good for a 25-6 score.
The
kickoff was a “squib” kick that was recovered at the 28. On 1st down
the Cougars threw a long pass all the way down to the KO 25. 3 plays later they
scored. The Cougars faked the PAT and tried to run the ball in for 2 points.
The Panther defense swarmed and tackled the ball carrier leaving the score KO
25- KHS 12.
The
Cougars were successful in utilizing the onsides kick and recovered at the KO
49. Tomball moved the ball to the 25 then on 4th down #4 Michael
Claus knocked down a pass in the endzone. The Panthers took over and on 1st
down Stover passed to Abron who made a 1 handed catch and carried the ball out
to the 40. On the next play Stover threw again to Abron who was pushed out of
bounds. Another Tomball player hit Abron very late on the play causing a minor
scuffle. The referees took over and disqualified a player from each team. With
time getting short, the Panthers did their best to run out the clock. Tomball
got the ball with 5 seconds left. On the last play of the game, Tomball fumbled
and #5 Jeremias Andrade recovered for the Panthers thus ending the game. The
final score was Panthers 25 Cougars 12.
